|John Parry, CEO and owner of Solar Works, has worked for a healthy planet for much of his life. A graduate of the University of California, Irvine, with a BS in Physics, John built Solar Works from a one-person solar hot water business to a company that offers a full spectrum of renewable energy and resource conserving services. For more than 27 years, John has worked with individual, community, business and institutional energy systems, and is a passionate advocate of local, healthy self-reliant communities. He is active in the California Solar Energy Industry Association (CALSEIA) and a member of the advisory President’s Club. John has served in such diverse roles as consultant to the California State Contractors License Board solar exam review committee,college faculty member, guest lecturer and community educator in renewable energy, and site director of an appropriate technology research, demonstration and education center. John also has been an operator of a university steam plant, and is a long-time proponent of non-fossil-fueled energy generation. Integral to his life, John is a peace and justice activist and concerned scientist, bird-watcher, wildlife observer and habitat protector, star-and-cosmos-gazer, weather-watcher, fearless wilderness explorer, home improvement maestro, crossword puzzle solver, music aficionado and unstoppable vinyl collector, electric bass player and occasional traveler to un-touristed and out-of-the-way places. He lives in the coastal hills of idyllic west Sonoma County with his wife, on a rural slice of undeveloped paradise.|
|Laura Goldman is VP of Solar Works, where she has been a “problem solver and people person” since Solar Works began. Laura helps the Solar Works team stay happy and productive and serves as a link to clients, our community and the world at large. Outside Solar Works, Laura is a consultant to academic institutions, community-based organizations and agencies, and other clients in the US and internationally. An educator with an MA in Medical Anthropology, Laura is also a bilingual link between English and Spanish-speaking communities. She is on the faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College, where she teaches in the Community Health Workers Program. Laura also reviews renewable energy proposals for foundation funding, and is a community activist in peace, health-related and environmental issues. In her spare time, Laura enjoys hiking, the outdoors, being in the garden and solar-heated hot tub, practicing tai chi, connecting with friends and family, and exploring the world. She also hosts a weekly program on KOWS radio.|
Sales and Marketing
|Stephen O’Leary, our knowledgeable, responsive sales consultant, helps connect people to the sun – and become happy Solar Works customers. Stephen’s attention to detail and his ability to focus on each customer’s solar needs and goals make the experience of investing in a solar electric system easy and enjoyable. A seasoned solar professional, Stephen also worked for many years in Asia and the United States, transforming high technology concepts into commercial and retail products for well-known companies. Originally from Ireland, where his family has a multi-generation construction business, Stephen earned a degree in electronic engineering from Cork Institute of Technology, and studied marketing at the University of Hong Kong. Stephen also has certificates in photovoltaic technologies, renewable energy economics and financing, sustainable design and green building, film production, and leadership development. A multi-talented man of many interests, Stephen also has been an organic and fair trade tea café and business owner, carpenter, steeplechase rider, equestrian, skydiver, military reservist, and adventure motorcyclist. Currently, Stephen is producing a television series about innovative, energy efficient homes. In his non-working hours, Stephen is a dedicated family man, Scoutmaster Emeritus and community volunteer, contributing to projects that conserve and generate clean energy, and preserve our environment for future generations.|
|Vicki Vaughn manages our commercial projects and the general administration of the business. She has an impressive and varied background that includes project management at Stanford, managing art fabrication and installation projects in SF, advising a community health center, carpentry, and Americorps service with Habitat for Humanity. Vicki is our resident bike commuter, and, when not at work in the office, she’s hard at work at home on her farmstead.|
|John Matheny, our Installation and Service Coordinator, manages the installation staff and responds to any installation work, including setting up and maintaining online monitoring systems and system repair. He also assists with various pre-installation issues such as site visits. John began his solar career as an installer for Solar Works and continues to learn about all of the realms of the solar business because of his broad involvement. John is a Sebastopol native and an Analy graduate with strong ties to his community. An ornamental fabricator and certified structural steel welder, John is the 4th generation of the family’s welding business started by his great-grandfather. He’s a natural tinkerer of all things mechanical, and has experience in construction, car repair and bodywork, and a variety of projects where he demonstrates hands-on creativity and hard work. In his spare time, John loves home brewing, eating good food cooked by his wife, long board surfing, bicycling, backpacking and rock climbing.|
|Autumn Streamfellow is the Solar Works designer. An integral member of our staff, Autumn is responsible for computer assisted design (CAD) drawings for PV systems. Autumn has years of drafting and design experience and a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis on renewable energy from UC Santa Barbara. In her leisure time, Autumn enjoys gardening, cooking, knitting, weaving, reading about the rest of the world, camping, and spending time near and on rivers with her husband and 2 small children.|
|Alaina Piskor is the Administrative Associate at Solar Works. She graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA in Environmental Studies. Her concentration in Energy Management and Design illustrates her desire to reduce carbon emissions and further a more efficient energy future. Alaina is a self-proclaimed country girl and her love of nature drives her to protect the planet. She lives in west Sonoma County on a sheep ranch and can be found there gardening, hiking, reading and doing various crafts.|
|Ben Van Dyke, our Facilities Coordinator, comes to Solar Works via Seattle. He worked in the glass industry before beginning a career in landscape design, which led to his interest in solar. He is working towards a degree in photovoltaics at Santa Rosa Junior College and is NABCEP Entry Level certified. Ben is excited to put his education to use here at Solar Works and continue learning more about the industry. In his free time Ben enjoys gardening, watching baseball, eating dark chocolate and ice cream, collecting music, building things around the house, camping, and doing crossword puzzles.|
|Fernando Garcia, a very skilled and trained member of our installation team, contributes a calm and collaborative presence to Solar Works. He is a dedicated, hard-working and detail-oriented installer. Originally from Mexico, Fernando has a background in construction, painting and landscaping. Fernando is eager to continue learning everything he can about solar energy, and is motivated to do his best work on behalf of our customers, community and planet. In all aspects of his work, Fernando demonstrates an ability to apply what he knows in a focused and helpful manner. A dedicated family man, Fernando spends his non-working time with his wife and two sons – his first priority – and plays basketball and soccer whenever he can. Fernando is intelligent, cooperative and easy to work with, and we value him very much at Solar Works!|
|Keith Young is a very competent solar installer with a non-stop sunny outlook. A Sonoma County native and graduate of El Molino High, Keith has a background in construction, and worked in his family’s business for five years before joining Solar Works. Keith loves installing solar because he gets to work with his hands, be outside in our beautiful county, and interact with customers who are eager to do their part in saving our planet. Keith also loves working at Solar Works, because he says we have a great staff (Keith included!), an awesome reputation in the community, and we provide him with support and training to be the best installer he can be. In his free time, Keith likes to work out, play golf, and relax with his wonderful wife and two dogs. A major influence in Keith’s life is his parents, who taught him right – to treat people and the world with kindness and respect. Keith is a valued member of the Solar Works family!|
|Luis Espinosa, a highly skilled and trained member of our installation team, is an amazing guy: He’s diligent and creative, one of the hardest workers on the planet, and is always seeking ways to boost efficiency during the installation process. Luis is now on track to become a member of our warranty and service department as well, due to his interest, intelligence and ability. Originally from Mexico, Luis has years of experience in construction, landscaping and gardening. Luis loves learning, especially about ways to improve his ability to contribute to his community and the planet. In his non-working hours, Luis spends time with his wife and children, and on weekends he is a champion at soccer and basketball. With his easygoing manner and non-stop energy, Luis is also a Solar Works champion!|
|Conor Faherty is a native Santa Rosan who has 4 years of experience as a solar installer. Conor majored in Environmental Studies at UCSB and graduated from SRJC. In his spare time he enjoys making food, drumming, backpacking and working in his garden. He’s always upbeat and happy to be hard at work in our shop or out on the jobsite.|
